It's Not Always Better Late Than Never

Hey! How are you doing? Just writing 'cuz I'm thinking about you.
It's been a long time. What 'cha been up to?
Me? I spend a lot of time thinking about you.
I've been feeling sorry for myself since the last time I saw you.
Why? Guilty I guess, for the things I've said and done...
Plus things I should have said and things I left undone...
Words I left unspoken, like I love you and care...
And like no matter what, I will always be there.
When I saw you last, did you hear me asking you to stay?
I told you that I needed you for the first time that day.
I still question why I waited until the day that you died,
To tell you all the meaning that you brought to my life.
This is one time when it didn't matter whether it's late or never,
Because only if had I told you while you were here would have made it better
Now I am left questioning if you know for sure or you're still guessin'
If the time you spent with me was a curse or a blessing
If you can hear me, I want you to know our time was not in vein
Your love still lingers and in me a part of you remains

This is exactly how I felt. One of my good friends who was only 12 passed away in an accident and I never got to tell her how I felt. And I deeply regret it. I just should have taken the time and told her I love her... and that she had changed my life. This poem has impacted me and my friends. Thanks for sharing it!

This had a great impact on me. A year and a half ago I lost my best friend who was a wonderful mother of three, wonderful wife and a unbelievable best friend. She died in a car accident about five minutes from her home. The day that she died she had called me from her cell phone. I almost didn't pick it up because I was running out the door to get my kids, but something told me to grab the phone, I never in a million years would realize that would be the last time I would ever hear her voice or her laugh again. She died that night on her way home.

This poem is great. I lost my someone I loved and this poem made me a little teary eyed. The poem put words in my mouth that I never would of on my own.
