You Missed It All

You missed my birth,

I'm thankful for Mom who did it all

You missed my first word,

I'm sure "Ma" was likely the call

You missed my first step,

But Mom was there catching me on each fall

You missed my first day of school,

Scared, I managed to stand tall

You missed my first recital,

Yet Mom attended them all

You missed my first heartbreak,

Mom was there to answer my call

You missed your grandchildren's births,

Mom shared every moment, big and small

Looking back on a lifetime

Of the memories I can recall,

Dad I just wanted you to know

You missed it all.
