Momma… I Love You

For the ups, the downs,
The unconditional love over the years
For all the worrying,
Often called meddling, for the quiet tears

Momma…

For the pain of delivery,
Rejoicing because limbs were in pairs
For giving of yourself,
Constantly demonstrating a mother cares

Momma…

You have sacrificed your life;
You're there whenever trouble nears
Your faith makes me stronger;
Your encouragement quells my fears

Momma…

Through it all you ask for nothing,
No awards, no heroic cheers
You watch over me in silence,
You vouch for me in your prayers

Momma…

Now that I am older,
I sometimes can get caught up in my affairs
I have even taken you for granted;
My need to be me often interferes

Momma…

But wherever I go and whatever I do,
No matter what the future bears
I will always admire, respect and love you
Know that no one compares
