Our
Recognition For Those Who Are Making A Difference...
SomethingToShare.com
was created with a simple guiding objective - to help make
the world a better place. And key to the achievement
of that objective is encouragement and recognition for others
making their own positive impact, in their own way, on this
world. Thus periodically we will recognize people, organizations
and websites that are, in their own way, making the world
a little better.
This is just
our way of saying thank you to a few of the other individuals
dedicated to the cause. On behalf of all of the people

People & Organizations Making A Difference
March 2000, People & Organizations Award Winner
About a year ago I had an interesting conversation with
a friend. Responding to her feelings that she wasn't making
a difference, I suggested that she was probably looking
in the wrong place for such fulfillment. Redirecting
the conversation from her job, I questioned opportunities
for this fulfillment in her personal life. She responded
that there was a charitable organization she had heard about
(and been inspired by), founded in California, which provided
shoes and clothing for schoolchildren in need. To which
I responded… and ???
Merely months later J. Glauser, with the assistance of
her husband, founded Shoes That Fit of Newark Delaware.
Inspired by the mission of the founding Shoes That Fit organization
of building self-esteem in children from lower income families
via new clothing and shoes, she diligently initiated promotional,
fundraising, recruiting, acquisition and distribution activities
necessary for success. And with the assistance of 128 volunteers
and contributors, Shoes That Fit of Newark Delaware successfully
implemented two campaigns in the fourth quarter of 1999.
All told, 371 elementary schoolchildren were the proud recipients
of 2,968 articles of clothing. Even more commendable is
that this was accomplished while balancing requirements
for two children and a full time job.
One can only imagine the out reach of campaigns planned
for 2000 and beyond. One can only imagine the true impact
this effort will have on each and every one of the children,
teachers, families and volunteers who have been touched.
Isn't it amazing what a little dedication and concern can
do? And as for J. Glauser's feelings of not making a difference…
Just don't ask her about the results of her efforts unless
you have some time on your hand.
Because of her efforts to make a difference, devotion,
enthusiasm and the impact she is having on our youth, J.
Glauser is presented the SomethingToShare.com New Day Award.
